How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Puihardy

Puihardy sits quietly within the landscape of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, a commune defined by the gentle presence of le Saumort and the nearby Bois de la Noue Girard. The horizon here is shaped by the wide, open character of the limestone plain, where white cattle graze beside low hedges. A short journey away, the Parc Naturel Régional du Marais Poitevin offers its green waterways, a striking contrast to the solid stone of the Château Renaissance de Coulonges sur l'Autize. Visitors may also explore the industrial echoes at the Centre Minier de Faymoreau or the ancient mystery of the Dolmen dit Pierre-Levée, all set against the vast, shifting light of this inland territory.
