How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Saint-Coutant

Saint-Coutant rests within the quiet expanse of Deux-Sèvres, where the landscape is defined by the gentle presence of the river la Dive and the sprawling Bois de la Babinière. This is a land of limestone plains and muted light, where the horizon is anchored by the modest rise of the Plaine de la Couture. Beyond the village, one finds the enduring legacy of the region: the Moulin de Germain still whispers of old water-driven industry, while the Château de Germain stands as a silent witness to the past. Further afield, the ancient Tumulus de Bougon invites reflection upon the deep history held within these silent fields.
