How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Salles

Salles sits quietly amidst the limestone plains of the Deux-Sèvres, where the gentle waters of the le Pamproux carve a path through the rolling countryside. Nearby, the woodland of Bois Chaton offers a quiet refuge, while the horizon is marked by the modest rise of Côte Belet. The landscape feels tethered to the ancient earth, evidenced by the nearby Dolmen de la Garenne. Visitors can explore the profound heritage of the Tumulus de Bougon or admire the intricate stonework of the Abbatiale Saint-Maixent. It is a place defined by the steady, enduring rhythms of the rural Nouvelle-Aquitaine, far from the coastal bustle.
