How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Valdelaume

Valdelaume rests within the quiet expanse of the Deux-Sèvres, where the landscape is defined by the gentle flow of l'Aume and the steady rise of les Trois Fontaines. Nearby, the Bois de Bouin offers a sheltered woodland space, contrasting with the open character of the surrounding limestone plain. A traveler might venture toward the Château de Saveilles, an elegant silhouette rising from the earth, or seek the enduring stone legacy of the Dolmens de Magnez. Further into the wider countryside, the Château de Javarzay remains a testament to the region’s architectural patience, standing still under the vast, shifting sky that defines this corner of Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
