How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About La Cassagne

La Cassagne rests within the quiet expanse of the Causse de Martel, a landscape defined by the rolling contours of Pech Redon and the nearby Forêt de Jayac. This commune sits nestled inside the Bassin de la Dordogne, where the water of le Coly flows nearby and the winding path of la Vézère shapes the wider countryside. Beyond the wooded ridges, visitors might discover the imposing stones of Château de la Grande Filolie or the historic walls of the Ancienne commanderie. It is a place of damp warmth and tall skies, where the air carries the scent of walnut and the memory of ancient, limestone earth.
