How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Nailhac

Nailhac rests within the rolling, verdant cradle of the Dordogne, a landscape defined by the quiet meanderings of the le Thévenot and the distant, protective presence of the Bassin de la Dordogne biosphere. Here, the air holds the scent of walnut and damp earth, where the Puy de Mongiaud anchors the horizon. Visitors may wander toward the Grotte de Tourtoirac, where subterranean rivers have sculpted intricate stone galleries over eons, or stand before the formidable walls of the Château d'Hautefort. Further afield, the Abbaye de Dalon offers a silent, stone-hewn sanctuary amidst the tall skies and scattered woodland of this ancient, inland territory.
