How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Bernos-Beaulac

Bernos-Beaulac rests where the deep shadows of maritime pine meet the sandy tracks of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. The Ruisseau de Gouaneyre whispers through the lowlands nearby, while the vast Parc Naturel Régional des Landes de Gascogne offers a quiet sanctuary of tall skies and dappled light. It is a landscape defined by the damp warmth of the forest floor, where the long straight roads of the Landes stretch toward an horizon that feels both ancient and enduring.

A short journey reveals the weight of history etched into the stone of the region. The Château de Cazeneuve stands as a testament to the past, while the rugged ruins of the Château médiéval de La Trave reflect the stillness of the countryside. Visitors may also find the Grotte de la Reine Margot tucked away in the landscape, or seek the quiet beauty of the Ancienne abbaye de Fontguilhem. These sights emerge from the terrain like echoes of a time when the rhythm of life was set by the turn of the seasons.
