How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Cessac

Cessac sits quietly within the Bassin de la Dordogne, a landscape defined by the damp warmth of the interior and the gentle presence of the Rouille de Briot. Here, vines stand in strict rows on gravel, while the shade of the Grande Borne woodland offers a respite from the tall, shifting skies. Beyond the village, a visitor might uncover the weathered stones of the Dolmen de Curton, trace the silent history at the Vestiges de la Commanderie de Sallebruneau, or descend into the cool, limestone depths of la Grotte Célestine. It is a place of quiet transition between the forest and the river.
