How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Origne

Origne rests within the Parc Naturel Régional des Landes de Gascogne, a landscape defined by the quiet presence of the Gaillot woodland and the winding Ruisseau de la Nère. The horizon is shaped by the long, straight forest roads of the Landes and the scent of maritime pine, while the sandy tracks lead toward the wider countryside. Visitors might wander to the impressive ruins of the Château de Villandraut or find the remnants of the Château médiéval de La Trave. Beyond these silent stone witnesses, the Château de Budos offers a glimpse into the past, standing amidst the tall skies and damp warmth of this tranquil Gironde setting.
