How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Angous

Angous rests within the quiet, verdant folds of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, a landscape where the Toupierres woodland offers a sheltered refuge near the Ruisseau de Lassere. The horizon is shaped by the summit of Majora, while the distant, mist-hung Aire d'Adhésion du Parc National des Pyrénées reminds one of the wilder heights nearby. Visitors can explore the somber, reflective space of the Musée du Camp de Gurs or admire the enduring stone of the Château fort de Mauléon. In the wider countryside, the rhythm of life follows the seasons, with sheep grazing on the slopes as the rain arrives suddenly to leave the meadows shining.
