How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Lescousse

Lescousse lies nestled within the rolling expanse of the Montagne du Plantaurel, a landscape where the Ruisseau de las Berrières marks the quiet rhythm of the fields. To the south, the horizon catches the drama of the Parc Naturel Régional des Pyrénées Ariégeoises, where storms often gather above the summits. Nearby, the ancient stones of the Château de Pailhès stand as a sentinel over the valley, while the mysterious depths of the Grotte du Mas-d'Azil offer a subterranean passage through time. Wanderings through the Bois de Leychat reveal the deep, hushed character of this corner of Ariège, far removed from the bustle of the world.
