Soulan s'inscrit au cœur du Parc Naturel Régional des Pyrénées Ariégeoises, un paysage façonné par le cours vif de l'Arac et l'ombre portée du Bois de Joubac. Ici, l'habitat de pierre se fond dans les reliefs escarpés où les orages éclatent souvent sur les sommets.
