How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Ventenac

Ventenac sits quietly within the Montagne du Plantaurel, a place where the landscape is defined by the gentle Ruisseau de Guinot and the surrounding shade of la Garrigue. To the south, the massive wall of the mountains looms, often gathering afternoon storms that drift across the slopes. Near the summit of le Castel, the air feels ancient and still. A short journey brings one to the striking Château de Roquefixade, where ruins cling to the crags, or to the formidable Château de Foix. Beyond, the Parc Naturel Régional des Pyrénées Ariégeoises offers a vast expanse of high cols and rugged terrain.
