How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Aguessac

Aguessac sits tucked within the Parc Naturel Régional des Grands Causses, where the landscape is defined by the limestone of the Causse Noir and the gentle flow of la Barbade. Above the village, the silhouette of the Puech d'Andan rises against the sky, while the nearby Bois de Silles offers a cool retreat from the dry heat and the midday hum of cicadas. In the wider countryside, visitors can explore the weathered stone of the Château de Peyrelade ruins or walk through the history preserved at the Musée des métiers de la pierre et de la vie rurale. Nearby, the Tour du Beffroi stands as a quiet sentinel over this rugged, rolling terrain.
