How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Saint-Christophe-Vallon

Saint-Christophe-Vallon lies cradled within the rolling hills of Aveyron, where the landscape is defined by the quiet passage of the Ravin de Gessière and the looming presence of the Puech de Cayssac. The sun-drenched earth recalls a region of wheat and limestone, a place where the air hums with the dry heat of midday. Nearby, the wider countryside opens toward the distant Grotte de Bouche Roland, its hidden chambers carved into the ancient rock, while the Parc Naturel Régional de l'Aubrac gathers the horizon in a vast sweep of untamed nature.

Within this stillness, the village invites a slow discovery of its surroundings. The Château de Bournazel stands as a testament to the stone craft of the region, while the weathered Dolmen du Puech de la Serre whispers of epochs long past. Visitors may wander toward the Château de Combret to admire its commanding silhouette against the ridge. Beyond these, the waters of l'Étang offer a cool respite in the heat, grounding the spirit in a landscape that remains beautifully, stubbornly itself.
