How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Baron

Baron rests upon the Plateau de Saint-Nicolas, a landscape defined by the scent of box and thyme after rain. Nearby, the Valat de Briançon winds through the terrain, while the heights of Mont Redon and the shaded paths of the Bois de l'Arque offer a quiet refuge. Beyond the village, the ruins of Arque de Baron (Château Ruiné) stand as a weathered testament to time. A short journey leads to the Oppidum de Vié-Cioutat, where ancient stones evoke a distant past, or toward the Gorges du Gardon, a biosphere reserve of rugged beauty etched into the earth.
