How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Chamborigaud

Chamborigaud nestles within the Cévennes, a UNESCO biosphere reserve defined by schist, chestnut groves, and steep, terraced hillsides. The nearby river le Luech carves through this rugged landscape, while the horizon is anchored by the imposing Montagne des Ayres. Visitors can explore the historic Ligne de Saint-Germain-des-Fossés à Nîmes-Courbessac, a railway route that threads through the valley, or discover the sturdy walls of Château de Portes and the local Château Montjoie. The air here holds the scent of box and thyme after rain, echoing the quiet, timeless character of these mistral-scoured ridges.
