How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Luc

Luc sits quietly within the rolling textures of the Hautes-Pyrénées, a place where the Ruisseau Hount-Hérède carves a modest path through the fields. Nearby, the Bois darré offers a shadowed refuge before the landscape rises toward the distant, grander heights of the Pyrenees. Visitors might explore the somber, beautiful stone of the Abbaye de l'Escaladieu or climb the ramparts of the Château de Mauvezin, which stands as a silent sentinel over the valley. Further afield, the ruins of the Cloître Saint-Jean evoke the slow passage of time in this region of high cols and shifting afternoon storms.
