How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Frontignan

Frontignan sits at a confluence of water and light, bordered by the shimmering Étang d'Ingril and the nearby Mediterranean. The landscape is shaped by the proximity of the Canal du Rhône à Sète, where the scent of salt and damp earth hangs heavy after the rain. To the north, the profile of the Montagne de la Gardiole rises against the sky, while the wild beauty of the Bois des Aresquiers offers a sheltered refuge. This is a region where the air carries the sharp, clean fragrance of thyme, evoking the untamed spirit of the wider countryside.

Historically rooted in the rhythm of the land, the commune remains a place of quiet industry and enduring local identity. Beyond the town, the Salins de Frontignan remain a vital coastal site, reflecting the heritage of a region that has long looked toward the sea. The atmosphere is quiet, marked by the memory of ancient tracks and the resilience of the surrounding limestone terrain. It is a town that breathes with the tides, balanced between the stillness of the protected Etangs Palavasiens and the distant horizon.

Cultural life finds its focus in the Église Saint-Jacques, a striking landmark that anchors the town center. Visitors often wander to the Jardin Antique Méditerranéen, where the history of regional flora comes to life, or explore the collections at the Musée Municipal de Frontignan. For those seeking the coastline, the Plage des Aresquiers provides a vast, open expanse, while the Domaine de la Peyrade offers an intimate look at the local harvest. These sites weave together the daily life and the historical fabric of the commune.
