How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Payrac

Payrac rests upon the limestone expanse of the Causse de Martel, a landscape defined by rolling horizons, the scent of parched earth, and the rhythmic drone of cicadas at noon. Nearby, the Ruisseau de Tournefeuille winds through the quiet terrain, while the woods of les Costes offer a cooling shade from the dry summer heat. The surrounding fields of wheat ripple under the sun, echoing the pastoral stillness of the region. A short journey leads to the Grottes de Cougnac, where ancient traces dwell in the dark, or to the quiet majesty of the Manoir de la Font-Haute, reflecting a history etched in stone.
