Ussel se niche au cœur du paysage calcaire du Parc Naturel Régional des Causses du Quercy, où la chaleur sèche de midi s'anime du chant des cigales. À proximité, le cours du Vert serpente à travers un relief marqué par le Bois des Dames et les hauteurs du Camp des Pargues. C'est un pays de pigeonniers et de champs de blé.
