How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Blavignac

Blavignac sits within the rugged embrace of the Monts de la Margeride, a landscape defined by the quiet persistence of the Bois du Loup and the nearby winding path of la Truyère. Life here follows the slow rhythm of the highlands, far from the coastal bustle, marked by the scent of box and thyme after rain. Travelers might wander toward the historic Porte de ville, or venture slightly further to discover the stone echoes of Château d'Apcher. On the horizon, the expansive Parc Naturel Régional de l'Aubrac invites exploration, offering a sense of vast, untamed stillness that lingers long after one has departed.
