OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.
Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.
📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.
Mode d'emploi.

Langogne rests within a landscape defined by the stark limestone of the Causse de Montbel and the scent of thyme rising after rain. The waters of le Langouyrou flow nearby, while the broader currents of l'Allier carve through the surrounding terrain. To the east, the mistral-scoured ridges of the Géoparc des Monts d'Ardèche frame the horizon, and the heights of Mont de la Bruyère stand as silent sentinels over the valley. It is a land of sheep tracks and ancient stone, where the air feels thin and clear, echoing the quiet persistence of the highlands.
Within the town, the Château Barres anchors the local architecture with a sense of enduring presence. A short journey leads to the Ancien château abbatial, a vestige of quiet authority set against the wilder reaches of the landscape. Nearby, the Porte du Besset remains as a weathered threshold to a past marked by the Camisard memory. Further out, the Château de Luc commands the rugged terrain, offering a view of the terraced hillsides where the history of this region is etched into every stone and slope.
