How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Prunières

Prunières rests within the rugged Monts de la Margeride, a landscape shaped by mistral-scoured ridges and the scent of box after rain. Nearby, the Ruisseau de Pisseratte traces a quiet path through the terrain, while the dense Bois de la Cham offers a cool refuge for wanderers. Beyond the village, the ruins of the Château d'Apcher stand as a silent sentinel over the rolling hills. Further afield, the expansive Parc Naturel Régional de l'Aubrac invites exploration, while the historic walls of the Porte de ville remain etched into the memory of the land, marking the passage of time across this singular, quiet corner of Occitanie.
