How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Saint-Gal

Saint-Gal rests upon the Plateau du Palais du Roi, a landscape defined by the quiet endurance of the Lozère highlands. Nearby, the Ruisseau de Grenaldès traces a path through the rolling terrain, while the Forêt de la Rouvière offers a deep, shaded sanctuary. In the wider countryside, the Parc Naturel Régional de l'Aubrac frames the horizon with its vast, rugged character. Visitors may explore the remnants of the Cité antique, sense the history held within the Domaine du château de Combettes, or gaze toward the distant, commanding height of the Roc de Peyre, which stands as a silent guardian over the wild, wind-swept expanse.
