Le Barcarès sits where the land yields to the Mediterranean, positioned between the salt-heavy waters of the Étang de Salses-Leucate and the vast, open sea. To the west, the landscape rises toward the Pech des Teissonnières, while the Agulla Ventosa winds through the low-lying plains. The air here holds the salt of the coast and the stillness of the lagoon, a place where the horizon stretches wide and the Parc Naturel Marin du Golfe du Lion protects the deep blue reaches offshore.
