How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Saint-Marsal

Saint-Marsal rests within the rugged folds of the Montner, a landscape defined by the quiet flow of the Còrrec de Mandastra and the looming presence of the Forêt Domaniale du Bas Vallespir. Above the village, the Coll de Formentera marks a path through high, slate-strewn hills where afternoon storms gather against the heights. History remains etched in the earth here; one can encounter the ancient Dolmen de l'Oratori tucked within the village bounds, or wander toward the weathered stones of the Castell de Bellpuig. Nearby, the silent ruins of the Abbaye Sainte-Marie offer a contemplative pause amidst the wild, shifting light of the Pyrenees.
