How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Bruniquel

Bruniquel sits nestled where the rolling hills of the Tarn-et-Garonne meet the quiet flow of l'Aveyron. Here, the landscape is defined by the dry heat of midsummer and the persistent song of cicadas. The village is crowned by the Châteaux de Bruniquel, whose ancient stones watch over the valley like a sentinel from another age. Nearby, the Grotte de Bruniquel offers a profound glimpse into the deep past, while the Maison Poussou anchors the village in its local texture. Beyond the ridges, the horizon is shaped by the limestone of the causse, where sheep graze amidst the wheat and sunflowers.
