How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Montpinier

Montpinier rests within the rolling hills of the Tarn, a landscape defined by the quiet presence of the Ruisseau de Poulobre and the nearby upland expanse of le Sidobre. Here, under the dry heat and the singing of cicadas, the earth yields sunflower and wheat. Nearby, the Parc Naturel Régional du Haut Languedoc offers a vast green horizon. A short journey reveals the historic Collégiale Saint-Rémy, while the Château de Brametourte stands as a silent sentinel of stone. In the wider countryside, the Cathédrale Saint-Benoît de Castres rises, a testament to the enduring spirit of the Occitan lands.
