How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Vénès

Vénès rests within the rolling hills of the Tarn, a landscape defined by the golden rhythm of wheat and sunflowers. Nearby, the Ruisseau de Lézert traces a quiet path through the countryside, while the dense canopy of the Bois de la Grange offers a sanctuary of shade. The horizon is shaped by the rugged heights of le Sidobre and the distant, cooling waters of the Retenue de la Bancalié. Visitors can explore the historic Collégiale Saint-Rémy or wander the grounds of the Château de Brametourte, both lingering in the warmth of the afternoon sun, before venturing toward the expansive Parc Naturel Régional du Haut Languedoc.
