How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

Map search is available for a limited number of queries per session to manage costs. Be specific — search precisely for best results.

About Petosse

Petosse sits nestled within the quiet expanse of the Vendée, a landscape defined by the rhythmic pattern of hedgerows and the subtle, shifting light of the nearby Marais Poitevin. It is a place of inland stillness, where the horizon is shaped by the gentle rise of les Tertres. Within the wider countryside, the Parc Naturel Régional du Marais Poitevin offers a sanctuary of wetland ecosystems. A short journey leads to the Château de Terre-Neuve, where history resides in stone, or to the Fontaine des Quatre-Tias, a landmark that marks the passage of time in this ancient, shadowed terrain.
