How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Tartonne

Tartonne rests in a landscape defined by the rhythmic shadow of the Barre des Dourbes and the winding course of l'Asse. Here, the thin, bright air carries the faint resonance of cowbells from the high pastures, while the Bois de la Sapée offers a quiet sanctuary of larch and spruce. Nearby, the UNESCO Global Geoparc de Haute-Provence and the Réserve Naturelle Nationale Géologique de Haute Provence protect a terrain marked by ancient geological history. A short distance away, the ruins of the Château de Clumanc stand in silent vigil, while the Église Notre-Dame de Clumanc and the distant Cathédrale Notre-Dame-du-Bourg remain as anchors of stone within this rugged, fortified valley.
