How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Mont-Dauphin

Mont-Dauphin sits within the Embrunais, a place of thin bright air where the mountain's shadow moves across the valley floor. The commune overlooks the confluence of the Guil and the Durance, framed by the scent of larch and spruce from the nearby Bois de l'Aubréau. Within the UNESCO biosphere reserve of Mont Viso, the landscape is defined by fortified valleys and rugged horizons. Visitors find the majestic Citadelle de Mont-Dauphin standing firm, while the Fontaine pétrifiante de Réotier offers a rare geological spectacle nearby. In the wider countryside, the Fort de Château-Queyras commands the rugged terrain, reflecting a history of resilience amidst these high, silent peaks.
