A distinctive quality of light often descends upon the valley, catching the gables of the older farmsteads and casting long, sharp shadows across the flat pastureland. To the west, the landscape holds the muted echoes of medieval defence, where the earthworks of Ewyas Harold Castle rise as grassy, unnatural swells against the horizon. Tradition remains anchored in the soil here, manifesting in the enduring craft of the nearby Ty Gwyn Cider, where the sharp scent of fermenting fruit informs the autumn air.
