It lies 5.3 miles west of Ross-on-Wye (from Ross-on-Wye: bearing 263°T, OS grid SO 514 231), and is situated east-south-east of St Weonards village. The landscape here possesses a somber weight, defined by the slow, deliberate pulse of the nearby Llanerch Brook as it carves its way through the verdant, rolling folds of the countryside. Beyond the immediate turning, the ancient earthwork of St Weonard’s Tump rises like a silent sentinel, anchoring the horizon with the ghosts of medieval fortifications. Three Ashes remains defined by this profound stillness, where the wind carries the scent of damp soil and the distant, metallic tang of shifting weather.
