Reading the map like an IGM sheet. Pianazza rests upon the hillside, a quiet hamlet within the larger comune of La Spezia. The land rises toward the peaks of Monte Arsa and Costa dei Bravi, where the air holds a sharp, clear stillness. Nearby, the shadows of the Grotta dei Pitali cut into the earth. Descending toward the city, one finds the Castello di San Giorgio overlooking the harbor, while the Amedeo Lia Civic Museum houses its quiet collection. Further out, the rugged outline of Isola Palmaria sits against the horizon, marking the boundary where the hills yield to the sea.
