Click Grid to lay a labelled UTM grid over the map, quoted along the edges the way a printed IGM 1:25 000 tavoletta quotes it — at normal zoom the squares are one kilometre across, so a six-figure reference can be read by eye and distance judged straight off the map. Ligatta is a small hamlet sheltered within the green, rolling hills of Sassello, in the province of Savona. The landscape is defined by the steady flow of the nearby Torrente Erro and the presence of Monte Savino, which marks the horizon. Close by, the Parco Naturale Regionale del Beigua preserves the rugged wildness of the region. Visitors may encounter the Basilica dell'Immacolata Concezione, a quiet place of devotion, or the fading, weathered stones of the Torre di Bastia Soprana. Further away, the solid silhouette of Forte Tagliata del Giovo remains as a marker of older defenses.
