Reading the map like an IGM sheet. Click Grid to lay a labelled UTM grid over the map, quoted along the edges the way a printed IGM 1:25 000 tavoletta quotes it — at normal zoom the squares are one kilometre across, so a six-figure reference can be read by eye and distance judged straight off the map. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance between them with the grid, true and magnetic bearings, the last being the one to set on a compass.

Canova is a small village within the comune of Aulla, positioned where the Torrente Aulella flows through the rolling hills of Tuscany. The landscape is defined by the proximity of Monte Gorasco and the higher ridges of Costa del Monte, which shape the movement of the air across the valley. Not far from this quiet settlement, the Brunella Fortress guards the local horizon, while the Abbey of San Caprasio offers a space of austere stone architecture. Further afield, the Castello di Lusuolo overlooks the terrain, marking the broader geography of a region defined by its rugged, earthen slopes and the steady passage of the Fiume Magra.
