Reading the map like an IGM sheet. Click Grid to lay a labelled UTM grid over the map, quoted along the edges the way a printed IGM 1:25 000 tavoletta quotes it — at normal zoom the squares are one kilometre across, so a six-figure reference can be read by eye and distance judged straight off the map. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance between them with the grid, true and magnetic bearings, the last being the one to set on a compass.
Click 📍 My position for a single GPS fix. It marks where you are and reports it as Gauss-Boaga (the grid printed on the IGM Carta d'Italia), as ETRS89 / UTM (the grid Italy uses today), and as plain latitude and longitude, with a copy button so it can be pasted into a message. It takes one reading and stops, to save the battery. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not — so the grid reference stays correct in the Apennines and the Alps, where the map itself often will not load.

The province of Verona, defined by the vehicle code VR, is a region of the Veneto where the landscape shifts from the flat plains of the river Adige to the rugged heights of the Lessinia Regional Natural Park. The terrain is marked by the presence of the Progno di Illasi and the quiet waters of Laghetto la Fonte, while distant silhouettes like Monte Drago and Monte Toso frame the horizon. The air here holds the scent of damp earth and river silt, a grounding presence that persists even as the light catches the brick campanili scattered across the countryside. It is a land shaped by the transit of armies and the steady rhythm of agricultural life, where the memory of frontier struggles remains etched into the soil.
Verona serves as the heart of this territory, housing the iconic Arena di Verona and the ancient Arche Scaligere. Within the city, the Casa di Giulietta and the Basilica of San Zeno Maggiore stand as testaments to a complex history that evolved from Roman foundations into a medieval stronghold. Across the province, towns like Villafranca di Verona, with its imposing Scaliger Castle, and San Giovanni Lupatoto, home to the Villa Giuliari-Verità, anchor the local economy. Whether visiting the Nicolis Museum of Cars, Technology and Mechanics or walking the paths of Val Pantena, the province reveals itself through its layered architecture and the enduring weight of its stone fortifications.
Beyond the primary urban centers, the province is a tapestry of ninety-eight comuni, including Sona and Pescantina. The landscape is defined by the proximity of the Bosco della Fratta and the challenging terrain found near Passo Spin del Poiero. While the skyline is occasionally graced by the distant, spectral peaks of Monte Bianco and Monte Rosa, the true character of the province is found in the everyday movement of its people. From the Basilica of Saint Anastasia to the Cattedrale di Santa Maria Matricolare, the province balances its role as a vital textile and marble region with the quiet, persistent pulse of its local communities, ever anchored by the strength of its Venetian heritage.
Explore Verona, Veneto, Italy, with a Google street and satellite map — switch between the two with the buttons on the map. Street View gives a ground-level view along the roads. Coordinates: 45.4104, 11.0571. Place names, the comune and provincia hierarchy and the population come from Istat: the administrative boundaries of 1 January 2026 and the 2021 census of inhabited localities. Local and world news feeds keep the page current, and the bilingual description is written from the data this site holds rather than copied from elsewhere. This hub links to every comune in the Province of Verona and to 1,405 place maps in the provincia.
Search Maps opens a second, independent map. It searches OpenStreetMap for any Italian comune, frazione, mountain or landmark by name; overlays a labelled UTM grid quoted the way a printed IGM 1:25 000 tavoletta quotes it; measures distance with grid, true and magnetic bearings between any two points; and takes a single GPS fix reporting your position as a Gauss-Boaga reference, as ETRS89 / UTM, and as latitude and longitude. Map tiles need mobile coverage, but a GPS position does not, so the grid reference stays correct where the map cannot load.
There is no topographic layer on these pages. The Istituto Geografico Militare serves its Carta d'Italia only inside the EU, so an Italian equivalent of the 1:25 000 walking sheet cannot be shown here — the UTM grid over OpenStreetMap is what stands in its place.
