OFFICIAL SPANISH MAPS — NEW. Click the green 🔍 Search Maps button below the map to open a second map with a Base map row offering five choices, four of them Spain’s own. Mapa is IGN Base, the national base map, which carries its own hill shading. Topo is the MTN, the national topographic map, labelled with named hills and their spot heights in metres above sea level. Gris is a quiet grey version, Aérea is PNOA aerial photography, and OSM is OpenStreetMap, which continues past the border. After them, Relieve lays the official shaded relief over whichever one you have chosen, and Curvas adds contour lines at 50 m — over the aerial photography as readily as over the map, which is the one combination none of the five gives on its own. All of it is published by the Instituto Geográfico Nacional under CC BY 4.0. The search box finds any Spanish municipio, entidad, mountain or landmark by name, so you are not limited to Tasartico.

Reading the map like an MTN sheet. Click Grid to lay a labelled UTM grid over the map, quoted along the edges the way a printed MTN 1:25 000 sheet quotes it — at normal zoom the squares are one kilometre across, so a six-figure reference can be read by eye and distance judged straight off the map. Spain spans UTM zones 29, 30 and 31, and the grid follows whichever one you are in. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance between them with the grid, true and magnetic bearings, the last being the one to set on a compass.

Click 📍 My position for a single GPS fix. It marks where you are and reports it as MGRS, as ETRS89 / UTM (the grid Spain uses today, and REGCAN95 in the Canaries), and as plain latitude and longitude, with a copy button so it can be pasted into a message. It takes one reading and stops, to save the battery. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not — so the grid reference stays correct in the Picos de Europa or the Sierra Nevada, where the map itself often will not load.

About This Tasartico Map Page / Información sobre esta página

Explore Tasartico, La Aldea de San Nicolás, Las Palmas, Spain, with a Google street and satellite map — switch between the two with the buttons on the map. Street View gives a ground-level view along the roads. Coordinates: 27.92651, -15.80190. Place names, the municipio and provincia hierarchy, the population and the altitude come from the Instituto Geográfico Nacional’s Nomenclátor Geográfico de Municipios y Entidades de Población, with population figures from the INE as at 1 January 2025. Local and world news feeds keep the page current, and the bilingual description is written from the data this site holds rather than copied from elsewhere.

Search Maps opens a second, independent map. It searches for any Spanish municipio, entidad, mountain or landmark by name; offers four official IGN base maps alongside OpenStreetMap, with the national shaded relief and contour lines at 50 m as overlays that draw over any of them; overlays a labelled UTM grid quoted the way a printed MTN 1:25 000 sheet quotes it, across zones 29, 30 and 31; measures distance with grid, true and magnetic bearings between any two points; and takes a single GPS fix reporting your position as MGRS, as ETRS89 / UTM and as latitude and longitude. Map tiles need mobile coverage, but a GPS position does not, so the grid reference stays correct where the map cannot load.
