Ockley stretches along the low, verdant shelf of the Surrey landscape, marked by a long, thin history of Roman road-building and quiet agricultural persistence. It lies 5.6 miles south-south-west of Dorking (from Dorking: bearing 192°T, OS grid TQ 150 405), and is situated west of Capel village.
