It lies 3.4 miles south-east of Farnham (from Farnham: bearing 140°T, OS grid SU 875 427), and is situated south of Tilford village. This landscape forms an integral part of the Thursley, Hankley & Frensham Commons SSSI, preserving a rare, rugged wilderness that resists the encroachment of modern geometry. To the west, the subtle elevations of Stonehills and Myers Hill break the horizon, their slopes cloaked in the muted greens and ochres of the Surrey scrub. Tilford Common maintains an ancient, untamed character, where the light falls in long, pale shafts across the bracken during the quietude of late afternoon. A short distance to the east, the waters of Stockbridge Pond reflect the shifting clouds, providing a still, silver mirror for the surrounding woodland. The terrain remains defined by its sandy soil and the enduring presence of gnarled, wind-bent trees that have weathered centuries of indifferent seasons.
