Local Heritage Initiative - Beating the Bar

- The location of the project is the ancient harbour called Velator which served the parishes of Braunton and Wrafton. Sailors leaving Velator had to negotiate the narrow and winding Braunton Pill, the Taw and Torridge Estuary and the notorious Barnstaple Bar.
