It lies 3.0 miles south-south-east of Hetton-le-Hole (from Hetton-le-Hole: bearing 152°T, OS grid NZ 375 432), and is situated north-north-east of Haswell Plough village. Low, rolling ridges define the horizon, with the modest rise of Heathery Hill catching the sharp, clear light of the North Sea wind to the east. To the west, the landscape dips toward the Dabble Bank Sssi, where the limestone soil supports a quiet, resilient flora that persists despite the industrial echoes of the past.
