It lies 2.2 miles east of Silloth (from Silloth: bearing 84°T, OS grid NY 144 538), and is situated south-east of Skinburness village. To the north, the damp expanse of Skinburness Marsh absorbs the grey hues of the sky, acting as a buffer between the firm earth and the incoming tide.
