Hope rests amidst the limestone ridges and gritstone heights that define the expansive, protected terrain of the Peak District National Park. It lies 7.2 miles east-north-east of Chapel-en-le-Frith (from Chapel-en-le-Frith: bearing 77°T, OS grid SK 172 835), and is situated east-north-east of Castleton village. The architecture of Hope reflects a long tenure upon the land, where the weathered stone of St Peter’s Church guards remnants of antiquity, including the venerable Anglian High Cross that stands in the churchyard. Beyond the church walls, the landscape slopes away toward the quiet pulse of Bradwell Brook, which carries the run-off from the high moors down into the valley floor.
