It lies 1.6 miles west-north-west of Lyme Regis (from Lyme Regis: bearing 292°T, OS grid SY 315 931), and is situated west of Uplyme village. To the west, the slopes of Shapwick Hill rise to meet the shifting weather, catching the pale, translucent light that often rolls in from the English Channel.
