Lake remains a quiet collection of dwellings tucked into the deep, verdant folds of the Torridge district. It lies 3.1 miles south-west of Great Torrington (from Great Torrington: bearing 216°T, OS grid SS 465 152), and is situated east-south-east of Langtree village. Heavy hedgerows define the boundaries of the fields, where the light often lingers in long, amber streaks against the darker, moss-covered stone of old boundary walls. To the west, the ancient Churchyard Cross Pedestal at Langtree stands as a silent sentinel, marking the passage of centuries with its weathered, grey granite. Beyond the immediate pastures, the Common Moor Langtree SSSI provides a sprawling expanse of heathland that catches the wind and holds the scent of damp earth and gorse.
