It lies 2.1 miles east-north-east of Bridport (from Bridport: bearing 74°T, OS grid SY 498 938), and is situated south-east of Loders village. The topography here is dictated by the slow, deliberate climb of Boarsbarrow Hill to the west, which casts a long, cooling shadow over the lower pastures as the afternoon sun retreats. To the south, Knowl Hill rises with a similar insistence, creating a natural amphitheatre that shelters the homes from the prevailing coastal winds. Yondover maintains a modest physical presence, preferring the company of hawthorn hedges and limestone walls to the louder bustle of its neighbours. The light in this corner of the county possesses a particular clarity, often sharpening the edges of the stone until the architecture seems to vibrate against the deep green of the surrounding hills.
