Beneath the canopy of the surrounding woods, the ground holds a damp, iron-rich darkness that once fed the furnaces of a forgotten iron-working past. In the quiet hours of the afternoon, the light catches the white sails of the Argos Hill Windmill to the east, a stark geometry against the soft greens of the valley. Castle Hill maintains a reserved, solitary character, defined by the narrow lanes that wind through the terrain like threads pulled tight across a heavy wool coat.
